Ready Player Two novel sets release date

July 12th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Big news for fans of the Ready Player One story, guys.

It seems that writer Ernest Cline is finally heading back to the Oasis as his sequel to the hit book, entitled Ready Player Two (yes, that title writes itself), is set to hit shelves on November 24th.

The original 2011 novel takes place in 2045 and told the story of Perzival, a boy exploring the Oasis, a massive online virtual world created by genius James Halliday and which allows the majority of the population to go online and act out their deepest fantasies… but it also hold a secret that could change the world.

The book was then adapted into a major movie in 2018 and directed by Steven Spielberg and both were dripping with nostalgia with 1980s properties such as Ghostbusters, Back to the Future and more interwoven into the story and the narrative of the tale.

No word as of yet if there are plans to film the second novel but it almost seems a sure thing, doesn’t it?

Anyway, let me know if you will be reading it or if you liked the original novel. I wants to know.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
