For those of you who are unaware, Bruce Wayne is dead (or as dead as one can be in comics). In his absence, a new Batman has emerged… Even though this exact same thing happened less than five years ago.

That’s Bat Cow above by the way… we’ll get back to him. Sort of.

However, unlike that time, it is not Dick Grayson taking up the cowl, nor Tim Drake or Damian Wayne. Instead it is Commissioner Jim Gordon… Wait what? Not only that, but Jim Gordon has shaved off his trademark mustache to take up the mantle.

With this in mind, a Batman needs a Batmobile or, in this case, a Bat-Truck – see below.

The basic reasoning behind this is that, while Batman has a Batcave, Jim Gordon doesn’t, so this will double as his base of operations and mode of transportation.

Let’s divide this story into parts.

Firstly, I am not thrilled with the concept of Jim Gordon as Batman. It’s still early days, but it just feels like a bizarre decision done solely for the purpose of shock value. However, I must admit, I like the concept of the Bat-Truck. The idea of fusing base and vehicle is a fun and simple concept. So simple, it’s surprising that Batman hadn’t had it before this. Yes, it is completely stupid, but it is stupid in a fun way… like Bat-Cow (And people say Batman is easier to relate to than Superman).

Batman #42 is out tomorrow, July 8th

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
