Last Thursday night (November 14th, 2013) Marc and Saxon on the Following the Nerd LIVE radio show talked to Mr Erik Burnham, the man writing Ghostbusters for IDW’s massively awesome ongoing series and they got chatting about some of the upcoming GB goodness for the year that sees the original movie turn 30.
We’ve seen teasers for Mass Hysteria over the last few weeks from the good folks at IDW (like the one above), but so far very little is know about the series or what it’ll mean to the Ghostbusters.
Well, we asked Erik if he could give us any details about it and, while chatty, he was cagey, but he did confirm that it would be an 8-part massive series and it would feature a God – not Gozer – but Tiahmat, the Mesopotamian goddess of chaos. She will attack the world, having had earth drawn to her attention when the Ghostbusters exploded a proton pack a while back in the series when they were trapped in another dimension which sent ripples through to her dimension.
He also revealled that it will be packed with nods and tidbits to the 30 years of history that Ghostbusters now has, including the return of Louis Tully, who they finally have the rights to use. How awesome is that?! Sadly, he did say they still can’t use Dana… but he really wants to write her.
Another big event coming next year is the IDW massive crossover featuring Ghostbusters, The Crow, Transformers, TMNT and the X-Files and Erik was happy to talk a bit about that too.
He confirmed he knows the whole story and the GB part of it will see the Lone Gunmen visiting the Firehouse. He pointed out that with Mulder and Scully they would be careful not to push things that say ‘Do Not Push’, whereas the Gunmen would ‘poke it with a stick’. This will result in a ghost being released in the ghosthouse and hijinks ensuing.
Oh, one final thing, Extreme Ghostbusters fans should keep their eyes peeled for Eduardo who will be appearing very, very soon…
Who ya gonna call? Erik Burnham, obviously…
