DC’s Brian Azzarello took the stage at C2E2 today and during his presentation he dropped a bombshell that has us bouncing with excitement…

After asking the audience to close their eyes, the writer then asked them to consider three letters.. D… K… 3.

Yes, Frank Miller is returning for a third Dark Knight series called The Dark Knight III: The Master Race.

The series will run for eight issues, with installments scheduled to be released twice a month starting in late fall 2015.

Azzarello said: “For the past six months, I’ve been working with Frank Miller to bring the next chapter in the ‘Dark Knight’ to light.

“It’s been humbling. I’ve learned a lot, and I call him sensei. It’s a really, really big project.”

Miller himself tweeted the above image and said: “I hope that by now my silence is deafening.”

DC Comics said that the series will be “the epic conclusion of the celebrated ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ saga.”

Mller added: “Batman remains my favorite comic book hero and a sequel to Dark Knight is going to be daunting. But we’ll do our best.”

We have had a suspicion this was coming but not that it’s real? well, we’re pretty excited…

He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
