NBCUniversal is looking to put their fingers into more pies in the hopes of producing content that can be stretched across multiple media platforms.
According to Variety they are now hoping to join the comic book world with a new imprint through their television production company, Universal Content Productions, called UCP Graphic.
Leading the charge will be a new book from legend Grant Morrison and screenwriter Alex Child titled Proctor Valley Road. Published by Boom! Studios and set in 1964, the book will center on a group of teenage girls suspected in the disappearance of other teens in their sleepy California beach town.
“Similar to our strategy with launching UCP Audio, we want to offer storytellers the opportunity to create for multiple content platforms including graphic novels. Our goal is for UCP to be a home for great storytelling, no matter the medium,” said Dawn Olmstead, UCP studio president.
With UCP already producing Umbrella Academy for Netflix, Morrison’s Happy! As well as Deadly Class for SyFy, both of which we are still bummed about losing, there is no doubt that you can expect Proctor Valley Road to be turned into a tv show at some point in the future.
The book seems a bit mysterious, but the short blurb provided has definitely piqued our interest. As always keep Following The Nerd for more information and details as the book gets closer to release!
