July 23rd, 2023 by Marc Comments

In one of the most unexpected team-ups, it seems that DC’s heroes are to fight their biggest adversary yet… Kong and Godzilla!

Announced at SDCC 2023, later this year the Justice League will officially meet the Monsterverse.. though I doubt it’s tied into the Monsterverse movies and shows.

Be cool if it was.

Oh, and if you watch the trailer below, you’ll spot that at some stage Batman builds a Power Rangers=esque Mech to fight the monsters. Ha!

See you all in the comic chop in October.

DC Comics and Legendary Comics, in partnership with Toho International, have announced Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong, an inter-company crossover that will bring the Legendary Monsterverse into the DC Universe.

The seven-issue limited series will be written by Brian Buccellato with art by Christian Duce and colors by Luis Guerrero. The first issue will be released on October 17, 2023, with a main cover by Drew Johnson and variant covers by Jim Lee and Scott Williams, Rafael Albuquerque, Francesco Mattina, and Dan Mora and Alan Quah.

In addition, two gatefold variant covers by Duce, one featuring Kong and one featuring Godzilla, will go on sale on November 14. The gatefold covers will contain sound chips that play the monsters’ battle roars, when the covers are opened. They will be polybagged and will have an MSRP of $14.99 apiece.

We almost got Pacific Rim meets the Monsterverse!

The story will start with the Justice League facing off with the Legion of Doom in a fight that ruptures the wall between worlds, allowing the Monsterverse monsters to invade Earth.

“There have been a couple of classic crossovers since I started reading comics: Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man, The Uncanny X-Men and the New Teen Titans—and we hope Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong joins that list of unforgettable meetings,” said Robert Napton, SVP & Publisher, Legendary Comics, in a statement accompanying the announcement.

Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s FacebookTwitter and Instagram
