Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Jaime Foxx aggressively pursuing Mike Tyson and Spawn projects.

July 29th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Jaime Foxx is set to face Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker next summer in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 playing the villain Electro. But that isn’t the end of Foxx’s comic-book movie aspirations. In a recent interview with Movies.com, the Oscar-winning actor revealed two dream projects he wants to star in: one of which is a film adaptation of Todd McFarlane’s Spawn.

“Spawn is one, yeah. And Mike Tyson. Those are two roles I would just love to do. I’m aggressively pursuing them.”

It’s worth pointing out that both roles were previously played by Michael Jai White. He was Mike Tyson in 1995’s TV movie Tyson and Spawn in the 1997 movie. I think Foxx is a tremendous actor and would do fine in both roles. The problem seems to be in Todd McFarlane finishing the script. Earlier  in the year he said:

“I continue to write a page here and there. As I’ve said before, I’ve got a guy waiting on the sidelines who’s an Academy Award-winning actor who phones every three weeks going ‘Todd, where’s the script? Where’s the script?’… He came out to the office, he gave me his pitch, I gave him my pitch, and he’s like ‘Fine, let’s do your gig.’ The pitch I gave him was that we could then do, like, ten of these for the next ten years, and he wouldn’t have to be 22 for the rest of his life.”

Anyway if it ever does actually happen, what do you think about Foxx taking on the role?
