Arnold Schwarzenegger has said that The Terminator will be back on the big screen with big plans in motion by James Cameron.
Speaking to Screen Daily at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, the actor also confirmed that he will be in the next movie.
“It is back,” he said. “It is moving forward. [Cameron] has some good ideas of how to continue with the franchise. I will be in the movie.”
It was reported in March that Paramount, who currently own the property, had removed the series from their plans after the most recent film Genysis failed to set the box office alight.
The studio had scheduled two sequels to the film for summer 2017 and 2018 releases respectively and was planning to shoot back-to-back however that has now all changed.
It is believed that the rights to the series revert back to James Cameron in 2019 but no word on whether he plans to direct a new film.
