Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder defends Aquaman’s badass potential

August 9th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

It seems that Zack Snyder is not a fan of Aquaman jokes, as CBS Detroit learned today. When they started making fun of the King of Atlantis,  rumored to have a cameo in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and all but confirmed to be played by Jason Momoa. That film’s director, Zack Snyder, called in the show and defended Aquaman:

“You guys were disparaging, a little bit, Aquaman. I don’t want to give anything away about the movie or anything like that, but Aquaman has some cool abilities. People are like, ‘Oh what? Does he talk to animals? Because that seems like what he does. Or fish?’ The cool thing with Aquaman is he has his trident. You have to realize that could cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact. That’s a thing that’s in the canon. He’s super strong because, of course, he can exist at these super deep depths. So when he comes up here, he’s crazy strong. Anyway, not to say he’s in my movie or anything like that, but he has the potential to be bad ass, that’s all I’m saying.”

You can listen to the full Zack Snyder call right here.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. Zack Snyder is directing.

The cast includes Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman in the film, Ben Affleck is Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot is Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg is Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons is Alfred Pennyworth and Ray Fisher is Victor Stone/Cyborg. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will also reprise their roles in the sequel. Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto and Scoot McNairy have unknown roles. Jason Momoa is all but confirmed as Aquaman and rumored to appear.

It is scheduled to hit theaters in the US on March 25th, 2016. It’s not yet known if the April 29th date in UK still stands.
