Bryan Singer will direct X-Men: Apocalypse!

December 9th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Director Bryan Singer managed to steal some of Amazing Spider-Man 2’s thunder last week by tweeting two words and a date: “#Xmen #Apocalypse 2016 on the day that Spidey’s trailer dropped.

But his tweet made no mention whether he would be directing like he did for the original X-Men movie, its 2003 sequel X2, and next year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past or if he would just be a producer like he was for X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class.

Well according to Vulture he will indeed helm the 2016 film. They go on to say that the sequel will be set up in the closing moments of Days of Future Past, which we all assumed. The next bit is different to what we’ve been hearing, they say the X-Men: Apocalypse will focus on the younger McAvoy-Fassbender cast.

Most of the rumors suggest that the new film would involve both present and future X-Men. Bryan Singer has also tweeted a response to the rumor that Apocalypse is an alien that can be seen below.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set for May 27, 2016.
