Two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz is reportedly playing the villain in the next James Bond movie. This comes from The Daily Mail, which claims that Waltz has fully “jumped on board” Bond 24. Chiwetel Ejiofor was in the running to be the next Bond villain back in April, but The Wrap says that deal fell through and Waltz will be taking over that role.
With Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista already cast as a henchman/assassin called Hinx and Lea Seydoux set to play the femme fatale . Bond looks like he will have his hands full in this one.
One inside source told the British newspaper that Waltz is playing a “nemesis of sorts” -which makes us naturally think “villain” – but other insiders were a bit more vague on the subject. Words like “significant” and “complex” are tossed around, and one source said that we shouldn’t necessarily just assume that he is the new central antagonist.
In an interesting twist, Waltz was previously up to play the villain in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, a role that is now being taken by Javier Bardem, the villain of Skyfall.
The as yet untitled Bond 24 is set for a U.K. release on Oct. 23 and U.S. for Nov. 6, 2015.
