Could Lex Luthor make a Man of Steel appearance? UPDATED: Is this Lex Luthor?

March 29th, 2013 by Marc Comments

Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer has been speaking to film blog I Am Rogue about the possibility of Lex Luthor appearing in Zack Snyder’s forthcoming Superman film.

While speculation has been muted on the chances of a role for the bald headed villain, Goyer didn’t deny it when asked.

“I don’t think anyone has ever confirmed that we haven’t included him,” he said.

Meanwhile, on the rumours of Rebecca Buller potentially playing a female Jimmy Olsen, he would not be drawn, saying: “I can’t comment on that.”

Man of Steel is due out on June 14, and also stars Michael Shannon as General Zod, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El and Henry Cavill.

UPDATE

It now seems that Luthor may indeed be in Man Of Steel if Harry Knowles over at Aintitcool is to be believed.
Harry is reporting: Lots of people have been wondering if Lexd Luthor was going to be in Man Of Steel.
The answer is apparently a very loud YES.  Not only that the tone that Nolan/Goyer/Snyder are going for with the character is not the silly goofy Hackman Luthor…   But an ambitious, ego driven and cold version of Luthor.
Then he gave me the name:  Mackenzie Gray – I remember that he played a Luthor clone in Smallville – so that raised a red flag, but I went to IMDB to see if there was a mention of him being in the film – where I was greeted by this photo (below) Which of course is a picture of him from 2010, when he played the Luthor Clone on Smallville.’
He certainly has the look and we love the idea of Luthor being in the background of this movie and Gray has the look. Watch the video below where he talks about he seret his role is… we think Harry isn’t jumping to conclusions prematurely here because, well it makes sense. What do you all think?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
