Dave Bautista and Georges St-Pierre join Kickboxer remake

May 14th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Both Van Damme films Kickboxer and Bloodsport, were reported last year as getting remakes.

As the backers of Kickboxer travel to Cannes in the hopes of rounding up some international sales, Dave Bautista and Georges St. Pierre have been announced as part of the cast.

Clearly they are looking to the  Marvel movies for their cast.

Kickboxer, which was originally about a man who learns Muay Thai kickboxing in order to avenge his brother in a brutal fight, has a script by TV writer Jim McGrath (Air America, Matlock) and his former collaborator Dimitri Logothetis (The Lost Angel, Air America). The movie will be directed by Stephen Fung (Tai Chi Zero, Tai Chi Hero) and it stars stunt man and martial artist Alain Moussi, who makes his debut as leading man in the film.

There’s no word on a shoot schedule or release date for the remake yet.

We also don’t know whether original star, Jean-Claude Van Damme, will be involved with either film.
