Director Colin Trevorrow reveals that Jurassic World is set 22 years after the original

November 30th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Universal Pictures will release Jurassic World in 3D on June 12, 2015, besides that fact we don’t really know much more about the film. Rumors have surfaced that the film may be about the park some time later as it is officially open to the public, but that has not confirmed. Fans have also wondered if the movie will serve as a reboot of the franchise. Director Colin Trevorrow  took to Twitter to address those fears:

“Reboot is a strong word. This is a new sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of Jurassic Park.”

Being set 22 years after the first film, does seem to lend a bit more authenticity to the theme park rumors. Being set in what is essentially real time also means that if they were cast any actors from the first film, age would not be an issue.

Steven Spielberg returns to produce. Trevorrow directs the epic action-adventure from a draft of the screenplay he wrote with Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley join the team as fellow producers.

Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Jake Johnson, Nick Robinson and Irrfan Khan have been cast with Chris Pratt rumored to take the lead role. Steven Spielberg returns to produce. Trevorrow directs the epic action-adventure from a draft of the screenplay he wrote with Derek Connolly.

Jurassic World is set to open on June 12, 2015.
