Some cool news for fans of, the currently in cinemas, The Batman today, guys,
While I didn’t like the design of the character in the movie, one of the standouts from it was actor Paul Dano’s turn as Edward Nashton AKA The Riddler and now it seems we’re getting more Riddler goodness.
We already know that this new cinematic universe is set to get two HBO Max spinoff shows (here) set around the GCPD and Colin Farrell’s Penguin as well as an almost certain second outing for Robert Pattinson’s Batman (here) on the big screen, but it seems that the comics are set to continue the world out even further.
Dano will be penning a Riddler prequel series called Riddler: Year One which is due to hit shelves in October.
The title is a throwback to Frank Miller’s iconic Batman: Year One and will undoubtedly show us the events that led up to Naston putting on the U.S. Army winter which Dano also had a hand in picking for the character (here), so it seems he’s very close to the role on and off the screen.
Little else is known about the book… is it a limited series? A one-shot? An ongoing series? Who knows.
You can check out the teaser image DC have put out above and know that we’ll keep you posted as and when we hear more.
More Dano’s Riddler is certainly welcome, we just hope that, down the line, he loses the military garb and looks at least a little more like the villain we know and love.
Thoughts?
