The appearance of Smaug has been a closely guarded secret. That might be until now?
The following is a pic of a statue that was spotted in the foyer of a movie theater in New Zealand. It is in a space is usually reserved for characters from Peter Jackson’s films, they’ve previously had Tin Tin, Gandalf, Gollum etc. So unless he has another movie with a dragon, it’s a good assumption that this is our first full look at Smaug from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug!
UPDATE: Apparently the theater was contacted and although this is a WETA design, it’s for some earlier tv show that was never picked up
