After last week’s news that Tony Jaa was joining Fast and Furious 7, we’ve got yet another high-profile name eyeing a role in the upcoming film! According to Variety Kurt Russell is in talks to play an unknown role. His role is unknown, although we can speculate maybe a bad guy and it’s definitely the big role that Denzel Washington turned down. We can probably assume the fact that it was offered to Denzel indicates this isn’t just a cameo, but a major role.
Kurt Russell hasn’t don’t much since his role in Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof in 2007. He was planning on working with Tarantino again in last year’s Django Unchained, but left that project mid-production. In 2011, Russell starred in the football drama Touchback.
Russell is joining Rona Rousey, another actor also in talks for a role in the film.
The James Wan film stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham, and Tony Jaa with more of the franchise mainstays expected to be confirmed later on.
Fast and Furious 7 is gearing up to start production in September and is expected to shoot fast and furiously (sorry), so that they can meet the previously announced July 11, 2014 release date.
