Luke Evans says again The Crow Reboot will be “authentic and loyal” to original comic

January 9th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Luke Evans has previously spoken about the upcoming reboot of The Crow being loyal to the original comic book, and in a recent interview with Red Carpet News TV, he restates his case that the film will be loyal to the source material and not a re-make of the 1994 film that starred Brandon Lee.

“Well, we just want to be as authentic and loyal to the original comic as possible, and that means the story will be different. It’ll be different from what people are expecting. It’s not about us ripping off the Brandon Lee movie, that stands alone as a brilliant piece of cult film and a great performance, but we’re going back to the book, the original book. And that’s exciting because we’re bringing to the screen a lot of parts of the story that were never really told. So yeah, it’s our chance to do it, to do it differently, but to be as loyal and respectful of the original storyline as we possibly can.”

When asked how he felt about putting on the iconic make-up for the film, Evans responded:

“It’ll be interesting won’t it to do that? I don’t know how it will feel, I’ve yet to think about that too much. I’m just prepping, it’s all very physical at the moment.”

Set to be directed by F. Javier Gutierrez, the film’s script is written by Cliff Dorfman and will feature series creator James O’Barr as a creative consultant. The Crowis expected to begin production in 2014, but has no release date.
