Meet “feisty” weapons expert Sabine of Star Wars Rebels

February 19th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

The Hollywood Reporter reveals some details about the first female character to be introduced from Star Wars Rebels.

Her name is Sabine and she is a Mandalorian.

Actress Tiya Sircar who voices Sabine describes her as:

“Sassy, spunky, feisty and has a little bit of attitude. She has an expert’s knowledge of weapons and arms, with an affinity for blowing things up. She does it with flair.”

Dave Filoni reveals some more info:

“She’s definitely one who’s turned against the Empire and that’s going to be to the Rebels’ benefit”

Joel Aron CG supervisor of lighting and FX adds:

“She’s adding something that we haven’t really seen before in the Star Wars universe. You have a character that is expressively creative through art — whether it’s the color of her hair or what she’s done to her armor.”

The upcoming series is set between the events of Episode III and IV, an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. It takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.

Star Wars Rebels will be produced by Lucasfilm Animation, featuring many of the key talents that made Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It is scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, and will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.
