Warner Bros. has released a new character poster for their upcoming 300: Rise of an Empire featuring Sullivan Stapleton’s Themistokles poised to plunge his sword in what we can assume is a Persian.
Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel “Xerxes” and told in the visual style of the blockbuster 300, this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.
300: Rise of an Empire pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Artemesia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
The action adventure stars Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Lena Headey, Hans Matheson, David Wenham, Rodrigo Santoro, Igal Naor, Callan Mulvey, Jack O’Connell, and Andrew Tiernan.
The film is directed by Noam Murro, from a screenplay by Zack Snyder & Kurt Johnstad.
300: Rise of an Empire opens in theaters on March 7, 2014.
