Now that mutants are confirmed in the MCU, actor Taron Egerton confirms Wolverine talks

Ok, so, if there’s one character fans have been waiting to see appear in the MCU, it’s Wolverine.

The iconic character was made a movie star by Hugh Jackman in the X-Men and standalone movies, but with him no in his 50s, he cannot keep going in such a physically demanding role, and so fans have been looking to see who will be stepping up to take his place in the MCU.

It was revealed in the finale of Ms Marvel, below, a couple of weeks back that she is the first (so far) mutant in the MCU: “I freaked out right away. I emailed Kevin Feige, I was yelling at him over emails. I was honored, I was freaking out, that’s the biggest thing in the world,” said Ms Marvel star Iman Vellani on the reveal of her character’s powers, and ever since then, fans have been waiting to see what comes next for the MCU mutants – and, yes, we all know that Jackman’s co-star, the great Patrick Stewart, left, appeared as Professor X in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, but since he isn’t from the prime 616 universe of the movies, that sadly doesn’t mean Jackman is still Wolverine in the MCU.

And it seems that fans may not have too long to wait.

One of the fan favourite choices to step into the Wolverine/Weapon X/Logan role has been Kingsman star Taron Egerton who has, as you can see in the graphic above, piled on a lot of muscle recently, making fans wonder if perhaps he’s getting ready for a superhero gig.

But… could it be Wolverine? In a recent interview, the young star was asked just that and, to fans’ surprise, he confirmed that he HAS had talks along those lines at Marvel: “I don’t think it would be wrong to say that,” he said.

“I’d be excited but I’d be apprehensive as well, because Hugh is so associated with the role that I’d wonder if it’d be very difficult for someone else to do it.

“But hopefully if it does come around, they’ll give me a shot.”

This is exciting news and it means that Ms Marvel’s introduction of mutant-kind is only the beginning with big reveals to come… what they’ll be, we don’t know, but we’re excited to find out.
