So far, with Jodie Whittaker set to play The Doctor in the new series of Doctor Who sometime in the next few months, we have been led to believe that they year would be the first since the show’s return that there would be no Christmas Special episode.
While we expect to have the official release date after the cast appears at SDCC later this year, we are now wondering if we may also have word on a Christmas Special after all.
Why?
Well, television editor Edel McDonnell has an official CV online (it’s at the bottom of the page if you want a look) and on there he has listed 2018 Doctor Who Christmas Special and also there he has listed Wayne Yip as the director of the episode; Yip has previously directed Series 10 episodes The Lie of the Land and Empress of Mars, so he’s no stranger to the show as well as having worked on Class, Preacher, Cloak & Dagger, Misfits and Utopia.
So have we now got 11 episodes of Doctor Who this year rather than the expected 10? We certainly hope so…
Ho, ho, ho!
