Rocket Raccoon is a ‘very real creature’

October 17th, 2013 by Marc Comments

Chris Pratt, who stars in the Guardians of the Galaxy as Peter Quill, has been speaking about his gun-toting-loud-mouthed colleague Rocket Raccoon in the forthcoming Marvel film.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, the actor offered a description of the character: “You think it’s a cartoon character, but it’s not, it’s a very real creature. Rocket Raccoon has been] tortured his whole life and no one else likes him, so he’s lonely and he’s angry and it’s like, [there are] all these elements [to the character]. You sort of forget about that, you wouldn’t think about, [and] hopefully will come to life. I think it will and that’s why they hired a really good actor to do the role.”

As for the man behind the voice of the character, Bradley Cooper, Pratt had this to say: “I could not be more excited that Bradley Cooper is voicing Rocket Raccoon. It’s a great character. It’s probably the best character in the movie, just because it’s not what you would expect.”

Guardians of the Galaxy also stars Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond, Benicio Del Toro, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Djimon Honsou, Gregg Henry, Glenn Close and John C. Reilly, and is released on August 1, 2014.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
