RUMOR: Is Adam Driver playing Han and Leia’s son in Star Wars: Episode VII?

May 13th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Girls actor Adam Driver was reported reportedly eyed for the villain role in Star Wars: Episode VII. Now it looks like that may have changed, well from a certain point of view.

According to a source for Jedi News, Driver will also be playing the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia:

“Sounds like Adam Driver is NOT going to play a villain…sort of. He will be playing the son of Han and Leia, and it seems he will be seduced to the Dark Side, and a main plot point for the movie will be their attempt to rescue him.”

Now this is just a rumor at the moment, but with the recent revelation that the films may draw what they wish from the EU, it makes sense. This could be their take on the Darth Caedus storyline that featured the fall of Jacen Solo.

Without spoiling too much Jacen Solo decides to travel the galaxy to learn more about the Force. While on his five-year journey Jacen enters a realm of the Force known as beyond shadows, thanks to his training with a sect called the Mind Walkers. In this realm Jacen gazes into the Pool of Knowledge that holds the Throne of Balance, (where in all future events are shown) Jacen sees a dark armored man ruling the Galaxy and becomes determined to prevent this evil future. This is why Jacen begins his descent to the dark side of the Force.

It was also  recently reported that Han Solo was considered a co-lead in the film, and this bit of information would make sense if he was to go on a journey to help prevent his son from the joining the Dark Side. Or to bring him back.

But would Han survive such a journey? His distinction as a co-lead have many fans wondering if we could be seeing the death of Han Solo. It’s a widely known fact that Harrison Ford felt the character of Han Solo should have died in the original trilogy.

Maybe this is what’s been holding everything up, from the script rewrites to the original cast coming back? What do you think?

Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams from a script that he wrote with Lawrence Kasdan. Set to star to original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in addition to new cast members John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.

Return to a galaxy far, far away on December 18th, 2015.
