Scream TV will re-enact the famous Drew Barrymore death scene

I love the Scream series from Wes Craven – even the last two (I thought four had a heck of a lot of potential and fumbled the ball in the last act but otherwise was very solid) – and one of my favourite scenes in the series, in fact maybe ever, is the death of Drew Barrymore’s Casey at the opening of the original movie. It’s funny, terrifying and beautifully executed – pun intended – and, as such, should never be touched.

So you can imagine why this story really grabbed my attention.

The Scream TV series from MTV has cast actress Bella Thorne (above). Nothing unusual there, but she has confirmed that she will be re-enacting the famous opening scene.

What?

But we’d heard that the series was going to be unrelated to the movies? Which makes us wonder if, like in the later movies, we’ll see the scene being re-enacted onscreen within the series, perhaps?

Thorne doesn’t really clear anything up: “yes, it is true. I will re-enact the famous scene of Drew Barrymore in the original series,” she confirms. But gives nothing further.

Scream will probably appear at some point in 2015.
