Shawn Levy talks developing a Stranger Things cinematic universe with Kevin Feige… and Deadpool?!

We’ve known for a while that, while Stranger Things is coming to an end in 2024 with Season 5, that universe is likely to be plundered, developed and expanded on screen in a way akin to Marvel and now we have a bit of an insight.

The show’s creators, the Duffer brothers, have previously said that the first spinoff they’re developing will be very different and not at all what everyone expects and now the show’s executive producer and director Shawn Levy has revealed that he’s being mentored on the whole cinematic universe angle by the man who perhaps knows more about them than anyone… Marvel boss, Kevin Feige.

“Yes, we are building out the STCU [Stranger Things Cinematic Universe],” Levy said in a new interview, below.

“And now that I’m spending time with [chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment] Kevin Feige, I’m learning a lot about how to manage a universe. So I’m taking those skills and applying them to the STCU.”

Fans’ Stranger Things anime is simply awesome!

As well as Stranger things, Levy is a longtime collaborator with Ryan Reynolds and is set to direct Reynolds and Deadpool’s first appearance in the MCU in the upcoming Deadpool 3, so could we see Deadpool in Stranger Things? As those clickbait videos say all the time, the answer may surprise you.

“Funnily enough, Ryan [Reynolds] and I were trying to figure out how in the world could we do a ‘Deadpool’-‘Stranger Things’ crossover,” Levy said.

“We haven’t cracked it yet, but it’s on the table.”

Now, while I have no doubt this is said in jest, I was thinking about this a bit while I was writing and I came up with this idea… when we meet Deadpool in the MCU, I have a feeling he will be the same Deadpool we have met already as the third movie is reportedly a sequel, meaning Deadpool may have to jump from the Fox X-Men universe to the Disney MCU, so we could see him ala Multiverse of Madness, crossing alternate realities and dimensions on his journey to the MCU, so there’s always the possibility we’ll see him in the Upside Down or Hawkins on that journey, even if it’s only briefly.

We’ll keep you up-to-date with all the Stranger Things news as it happens, folks.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
