Sherlock showrunners Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss are moving on to another classic literature creation for their next bug TV project.
The duo will produce three 90-minute episodes of Dracula for BBC in the UK and Netflix in the US.
The format is similar to the one used by the BBC when they were making Sherlock and it’s unclear at the minute if it will just be a straight adaptation of Bram Stoker’s iconic gothic masterpiece or if it will be a reimagining that will document further adventures of the king of the vampires.
We do know that, unlike Sherlock, Dracula will take place in 1897 and not in a modern day setting and will “revolve around the blood-drinking count from Transylvania who sets his sights on Victorian London.”
We can’t help but feel this will be the definitive end to the Sherlock series which, let’s be honest, to echo the words of the show’s star Martin Freeman, “Just wasn’t fun anymore”.
We’ll keep you posted once there’s more to sink your teeth into. Sorry. Not sorry.
