In an interview with Variety, Sylvester Stallone talked about the boxing icon, Rocky, and how he’s furious that he has no ownership rights over the name due to himself not being as legally savvy then, but all of that was shadowed when talks of a new Rocky movie comes up.
With Rocky being on screens for over 40 years, it’s no surprise that Stallone wants to reprise his role as the character again, saying that he’s in the middle of writing a new script for Irwin Winkler, the producer of Rocky and they seem rather happy with it.
With that being said, I don’t understand why.
The premise of it seems to be that Rocky meets a young, angry person who got stuck in his country when he comes to see his sister, so he takes him in and somehow they end up south of the border, now I don’t know about you but that sounds an awful lot like Creed just with extra steps. But hey, if they’re happy to make it I’m sure we’ll be happy to watch it.
There was also talk about a possible prequel series but that doesn’t seem as likely with Winkler not looking favorably upon that one, which I for one am thankful for since isn’t “Rocky” his origin story anyway so where would they have to go?
One thing is for sure though, even at 73, Stallone is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon and I wouldn’t be surprised if we still have more Rocky to come.
