It was at the D23 Expo when Disney truly made our dreams come to life with the announcement of Star Wars Land.

Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida will transform 14 acres of land into a galaxy far, far away. Although the project is far, far away from completion it will be starting very soon.

Disney COO Tom Staggs spoke about the expansion mentioning that Star Wars Land will feature its very own Millennium Falcon which will but ‘you’ in the pilot seat. Furthermore, there’ll be a fully functional cantina scene to help with authenticity. It is not known if people will hate you for no reason while you are there, but it’s reassuring to know they will most likely be ‘armless. I’m sorry, I had to say it.

Construction will begin next year.

Staggs also commented on the upcoming Star Wars film. He believes it will have a wide appeal to fans old and new, adding that it is also something China in particular may embrace. The Chinese market is always a difficult one to get in to so if Staggs is right, this film is likely to become the highest grossing film of all time.

No detail was released as to when the expansions will be open to the public however its likely more information will arrive in the near future.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for a UK release on 17th December this year.
