The Spy Who Loved Me car sells for £550,000

September 10th, 2013 by bash Comments

The famous Lotus Esprit submarine car driven by Roger Moore as James Bond in The Spy Who Loved Me has sold at auction for over half a million pounds.

The vehicle, which cannot be driven on the road, but is said to be a fully operational submarine, was bought by an anonymous bidder for £550,000 at RM Auctions in Battersea, London.

The previous owner, who has also chosen to stay anonymous, found the car after buying a storage container in Long Island in 1989.

It is believed the Lotus was left in storage by the production company which paid for the container for 10 years. But when the payment ran out and nobody came to collect it, it was put up for sale.

Thanks to the Daily Mail for the heads up on the story.

Hi all. I'm Bash and love anything and everything to do with Star Wars. Although I've watched hundreds of movies, read dozens of books and played numerous computer games from other genres and franchises since, nothing has come close to seeing George Lucas' epic for the very first time. I hope you all like the site and come back often.
