Will she take up the mantle in the second season of HBO’s acclaimed series?
Website Nerdist.com has posted that Academy award nominee Jessica Chastain has been offered the lead role in the second season of HBO’s critically acclaimed series True Detective. To many it’s no surprise that the show’s creator Nic Pizzolatto would be looking to hire such a big name, after the first season featured big stars in the form of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson whose acting may have helped to elevate the show above a typical police drama.
From Nerdist.com: According to sources, the Zero Dark Thirty actress has been offered a leading role in the second season but has yet to accept. As for official confirmation, we reached out to representatives for Chastain, who have declined to comment at this time.
Chastain’s name is already linked with several upcoming titles in the coming years including director Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (which she stars in alongside McConaughey), meaning any filming of the series would have to be fit in with a possibly already loaded schedule. Being that the series seems to revolve around detectives, chances are that Pizzolatto will also be looking for a suitably high profiled actor/actress to play Chastain’s partner should she accept the role, the question is, who do you think it should be?
