Vin Diesel confirms he is Groot and has other Marvel plans for 2016!

September 6th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Vin Diesel appeared on Conversations With Maria Menounos and finally confirmed that he is indeeed going to play Groot through voice and mocap, among other things. He also mentions the concept art for the character, which he said was some of the best he’d ever seen. But it was when his daughter pointed at Groot that the actor says:

“From that moment on, I was Groot.”

When James Gunn brought him the idea of voicing a character traditionally known for saying only one line, Diesel said, he thought there was something interesting and challenging about that, and it was simliar to the challenge of doing a Riddick film where he didn’t interact with any other actors for the whole first act of the film.

He also discusses his role with Marvel, and the idea that there’s something else still coming in 2016 that he’s going to be a part of.

That would be Phase 3. Maybe an Inhumans movie?

He calls it a “merging of brands.”

The Guardians talk begins at around the 50 minute mark. Let us know what you think?
