WATCH: Jeremy Irons talks Batman vs. Superman and playing Alfred

March 13th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Absolute Radio caught up with Jeremy Irons and asked him some questions about his role as Alfred Pennyworth, Batman’s trusted servant, in Batman vs. Superman.

Irons didn’t say much, but he did reveal that the script isn’t actually done:

“The script isn’t entirely finished. I’ve read a script. I think it’s not finalized yet.”

So apparently there is a working script being given to the actors, but the real deal isn’t yet done.

He also mentioned that he is looking forward to working with Ben Affleck, who of course plays Batman:

“I think it’s a wonderful idea. He’s a lovely man and an interesting actor. I’m looking forward to getting to know him. I’ve only met him once.”

Batman vs. Superman (or whatever) was scripted by David S. Goyer from a story he co-created with Zack Snyder, with rewrites by Chris Terrio. Snyder is directing. Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman in the film, Ben Affleck is Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg is Lex Luthor, and Jeremy Irons is Alfred Pennyworth. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will also reprise their roles in the sequel.

Production on Batman vs. Superman is expected to begin in Detroit sometime in April.

It is scheduled to hit theaters on May 6th, 2016.
