WATCH: Mark Hamill talks Star Wars: Episode VII: “I still can’t believe it’s happening”

July 25th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Even though Star Wars: Episode VII is sitting out this year’s SDCC, they are still making news.

In a new interview with the BBC, Mark Hamill talked some Star Wars.

On what it was like returning to the Luke Skywalker role:

“It was certainly unexpected. We had a beginning, a middle, and an end. I never thought we’d come back. I still can’t believe it’s happening. You go on to those sets that evoke so many memories, it’s just astonishing.”

About his co-star Harrison Ford’s accident:

“I was not on set. It sounded terrible, but I hear he’s doing really well. It’ll take more than that to stop Harrison Ford.”

On whether or not he’s given his younger co-stars advice:

“They’re so good, I’m thinking of asking them for advice.”

He also joked about his “contractually-obligated beard.”

Hamill, who is a regular Comic-Con attendee, regretted missing this year’s Con:

“I’m a comic book nerd myself, so I miss all you guys. Hopefully, I’ll be back next year.”

We hope so too Mark and bring Star Wars with you!

The cast for Episode VII includes Pip Anderson, Crystal Clarke, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the Saga Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18th, 2015.
