WATCH: The Simpsons’ animated tribute to Hayao Miyazaki

Master animator and filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki has said goodbye to the film world with what he’s announced is his last animated feature,  The Wind Rises. Now, The Simpsons has decided to say goodbye as well.

In this Sunday’s episode of The Simpsons is set to not only feature cameo voice appearance by the legendary Stan “The Man” Lee (who previously guest-starred as himself in the series’ 13th season episode “I Am Furious (Yellow)” and legendary science fiction author Harlan Ellison, but will also feature an animated tribute to Hayao Miyazaki, the animation master behind Studio Ghibli, that you can check out below!

The new episode, titled “Married to the Blob,” finds Comic Book Guy realizing that his comics are nothing if he can’t share them with anyone. Then he meets Kumiko, a Japanese woman writing an autobiographical manga, and he seeks out Homer’s advice on how to date her.

“Married to the Blob” airs Sunday, Jan. 12 at 8p.m. ET/PT) on FOX.
