Safe House screenwriter David Guggenheim sought for Bad Boys III

December 11th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

There hasn’t been an update on the status of Bad Boys III in quite some time (May). Well, that changes today as Deadline reports that Sony Pictures is looking to David Guggenheim (Safe House) to provide the screenplay.

Although Jerry Bruckheimer is planning to produce Bad Boys III, they’re saying that Michael Bay, who helmed Bad Boys and Bad Boys II is not currently involved. Franchise stars Martin Lawrence and Will Smith are being sought to reprise their roles as Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowery.

The first Bad Boys (1995) grossed more than $140 million worldwide. The sequel, Bad Boys II (2003) had a worldwide gross of nearly $275 million.
