Well, in fairness, we did suspect as much but it seems the planned Boba Fett movie at Lucasfilm/Disney is officially dead.
The movie, which has Logan director James Mangold attached to write/direct was very highly anticipated by many fans, especially with Solo: A Star Wars Story setting up the world that he could inhabit so well.
Ironically we imagine it’s Solo’s fault the movie isn’t happening after the disappointing boxoffice it made earlier this year.
Journalist Eric Weber was attending a special screening of Black Panther along with some of Disney’s biggest players and he took the opportunity to ask Kathleen Kennedy if the movie was still in the plan?
His tweet is below, but in it he says Kennedy told him the project is ‘100% dead’ with the focus for Lucasfilm/Disney now lying in Episode IX, The Mandalorian TV series and then Rian Johnson’s planned trilogy.
Fett: A Star Wars Story was originally set for release this year with director Josh Trank attached but then the road became rocky… and ultimately led to a cliff, it seems.
Who wants to bet that Boba Fett will play a part in The Mandalorian series?
Anyway, let us know your thoughts…
Kathleen Kennedy just confirmed to me Boba Fett movie is 100% dead, 100% focusing on THE MANDALORIAN #StarWars
