After the recent news that the Akira live-action remake had a new writer in place (here), it seemed like, love it or loathe it, it was happening. Again.
However, now it seems that, once again, it’s dead in the water.
Unknown and Run All Night director Jaume Collet-Serra, the man set helm the movie, has said the project is stalled again indefinitely: “There’s nothing”, he has said when asked about the progress of the movie.
“I truly will not make a decision on a movie for a few months because I’ve done there two movies in three years without any time off … my next movie’s not gonna be for a while, let’s put it this way”.
“It’s a Warner Bros question”, the director added, pretty much confirming that it doesn’t look like it’s happening any time soon.
We reckon it’s probably a good thing but we have to say, we’d love to see how it would look if nothing else…
