Big news tonight as it’s confirmed that A24 is developing an Elden Ring movie adaptation and the talent behind it is very, very impressive!

Alex Garland, director of Ex Machina, Annihilation and Devs, will write and direct the live-action movie for A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.

Among others, the movie will be produced by George RR Martin who is just looking more reasons not to finish that damned book, seriously though, he wrote the story that Elden Ring is based on, so it’s understandable.

Released to critical acclaim in February 2022, Elden Ring is an action RPG set in an authentic dark fantasy world, which allows players to head off on adventures within vast environments and dungeons. Created under the guidance of FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game is based on a story written by Martin, author of the fantasy novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, which served as the basis for HBO’s Game of Thrones.

Garland, as well as being a top-notch director, is also no slouch when it comes to writing either, with many crackers under his belt including 28 Days Later, The Beach, Civil War and Sunshine, so having him writing and directing with Martin on board and for A24, means that this will be the live-action movie to well and truly destroy the curse of the video game adaptation.

Thoughts? I know you have ’em and I want to hear ’em…
