Animated Scott Pilgrim project coming? Plus comic sequel?

June 27th, 2020 by Marc Comments

More great news for Scott Pilgrim fans today, gang!

Following the news a few weeks back (here) that, in celebration of its tenth anniversary, the Scott Pilgrim Vs The World movie would be getting a re-release and the video game would finally be getting a physical release, it seems there’s more Pilgrim goodness coming.

In  new interview director Edgar Wright revealed that there are plans afoot for an animated project:

“There’s some plans – and there’s nothing official yet – but there are some plans to revisit the material in an animation way.

“We’ve been talking with Bryan [Lee O’Malley, creator] and with Jared [LeBoff, executive producer] for a while [about]: What if we did something with the books in anime form? It’s being discussed as we speak.”

But that’s not all, as O’Malley added: “I would like to revisit the characters [in comic form] and see what they’re up to. I sketched Scott early in the pandemic with a huge beard. I think that would be a funny image.”

It sounds like nothing is at all even close to confirmation yet, but an animated movie or series could be fun… would it continue Scott and Ramona’s story or, like O’Malley’s planned comic, will it delve into what happened to the pair next?

I love Pilgrim – in all his formats – so whatever comes next I’m up for. Just as long as something comes next.

What say you all? Let me know?
