Universal Vampires?

Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have acquired the movie rights to Anne Rice’s entire Vampire Chronicles series, according to TheWrap. Brian Grazer will produce alongside Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.

The first novel, Interview with the Vampire, was made into a film in 1994 that stars Tom Cruise (above), Brad Pitt and a very young Kirsten Dunst. The Queen of the Damned, in 2002 with Aaliyah playing the Queen and Stuart Townsend playing Lestat.

There’s no word from Universal on their plans for the series so far, although a remake of Interview with the Vampire has been mooted.

Rice’s next novel in the series, Prince Lestat, is released this Autumn.
