Another cracking casting choice as Snake Eyes movie finds its Scarlett

October 16th, 2019 by Marc Comments

It looks like the Snake Eyes movie has cast another major GI Joe/Action Force character with a nice choice of talent.

Ready Or Not star Samara Weaving (you cannot convince me she’s not Margot Robbie’s twin sister) will play Scarlett in the movie and joins Henry Golding, Haruka Abe, Ursula Corbero, Iko Uwais, and Andrew Koji with Robert Schwentke directing.

Scarlett in the original comic/animated series was real name Shana M O’Hara (Scarlett O’Hara – reddit?) and she uses a cool crossbow, is a master of martial arts and was played by Rachel Nichols played the character in GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra in 2009.

On top of this, we have a mini synopsis for the movie:

Snake Eyes is a ninja commando who dresses in all black, hides his face and doesn’t speak. He stands out among the military anti-terrorist group and quickly establishes himself as its most popular member. He also has a special relationship with Scarlett (Weaving), the team’s first female member, and sometimes carries out solo missions with his pet wolf, Timber. His blood brother Storm Shadow is also his archenemy.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this has the potential to be a really great bit of cinema if everyone involves treats it with a (mostly) straight face. Snake Eyes has long been a favourite of mine since childhood, so I cannot wait to see this done right.

Thoughts?

Snake Eyes is set to open October 16, 2020.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
