Ant-man 3 gets Rick & Morty writer while Captain Marvel 2 gets official release date…

I must admit to being a fan of the Ant-man corner of the MCU and this is an exciting bit of news.

With the third movie in the franchise set to movie forward when the world snaps back after the current madness, it looks like a new writer has signed on in the shape of Ricky and Morty co-writer/producer Jeff Loveness.

I don’t know why but, to me, the mixing of Ant-man and Rick and Morty just seems, well, right.

The movie will be directed by the first two movies’ Peyton Reed and will see the return of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne.

With the Marvel slate well filled with the Disney+ shows, not to mention Doctor Strange, Thor and others getting new movies, it’s hard to know when Ant-man 3 will begin production but it will be worth looking forward to whatever happens.

And on the slate front, it looks like Captain Marvel 2 has acquired the slot previously reserved for July 29th, 2022, although it’s been modified to July 8th, 2022 now.

While I wasn’t a big fan of the first movie, I certainly didn’t hate it, so I’m sure I’ll be there on July 8th, 2022.

Will you? Let me know your feelings on these bits of MCU news.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
