Oh, man… if this is true then expect major changes in the future of movie releases – even bigger than we already fear over that damned virus.
According to screenwriter Drew McWeeny (tweet below), Apple is offering an awful large amount of money to MGM to have the new James Bond (already postponed several times) streaming on Apple TV+ before then end of the year.
And apparently Netfix too are snapping at their heels to get the movie first.
We all know there has been massive upheaval in recent months with movies going straight to streaming and download as the world hides away from this pandemic and we know too that with streamers like HBO Max putting massive money into projects like Zack Snyder’s Justice League that the future of cinema may not be as bright as it once was… after all, most homes have a decent TV and sound system these days, so people are happy to sit at home with a bag of popcorn and a new movie on the TV rather than go spend a fortune in the cinema.
If Bond makes that jump then, as they said in Scream 3, all bets are off as any movie could follow suit.
What say you? Would you be happy to see No Time To Die in your living room or would you rather head out to the cinema to see it? I want to hear all your thoughts, folks.
I can’t get my head around the idea that we may well see James Bond debut on Apple TV+ or Netflix. The numbers I’ve been hearing the last few days are I N S A N E…
