Are the Soska Sisters set to direct Scream 8?

Did we just slyly learn who is set to direct the next installment in the Scream series?

When ScreamerBoy95 took to X to share a rumour that the Soska Sisters were set to direct Scream 8, it looked like just another rumour for the Scream rumour mill… but then something else happened.

Firstly, who are the Soska Sisters? Well, they’re Canadian twins who are known for directing, producing and even writing low-budget gory horrors such as Dead Hooker in a Trunk and American Mary.

Secondly, when the rumour was posted, the sisters themselves re-shared it with an emoji of two wide-open eyes.

Now, this could imply they’re directing, or it could imply they’re as shocked as anyone to hear this new rumour… whatever it means, it’s keeping Scream news in the social media spotlight.

Tidbit:

Speaking of the Scream franchise, the sisters said: “Horror fans live, eat, and breathe this genre. Scream fans are notably the smartest, and we fans have high expectations with each installment.”

This does not, however, confirm their involvement – or non-involvement – in the next movie.

This comes a few days after a new rumour teased that the story of Scream VIII could see two Ghostface killers – standard – only these two are competing against each other -not standard – to see who can kill the most victims before they get to the ultimate final girl herself… Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell).

Sadly, it looks like this was just that, a rumour, and is unlikely to be the plot of the next movie… but I’ll not lie, it sounds like a great idea for a plot and harkens back to Kevin Williamson’s original plan for Scream V and was briefly touched upon at the start of Scream VI too.
