Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice isn’t short on villains, with Lex Luthor and Doomsday primed to unnerve our two titular superheroes, but the movie almost featured two additional famous DC antagonists.

Director Zack Snyder said in a recent interview with Collider (via Squareeyed) that “the Joker and the Riddler both came close to being in this movie.”

“We talked about the possibility of putting them in,” he went on. “[Screenwriter] Chris Terrio and I talked about it a lot and felt that their mythological presence is felt in the movie, and that’s cool, but I didn’t want to get my eye too far off the ball because I needed to spend the time, frankly, with Batman and Superman to understand the conflict.”

Of course we know that there is hint at Riddler already in the movie as seen in the still below from the second trailer (continues after image):

Jesse Eisenberg will play Luthor in Batman v Superman, with Robin Atkin Downes providing the voice and motion capture for Doomsday. Oscar-winner Jared Leto will debut as the Clown Prince of Crime later this year in the highly-anticipated Suicide Squad.

Joker may not be in Dawn of Justice, but his presence will certainly be felt by Ben Affleck’s Batman, with one of the trailers showing Robin’s suit vandalised with the words “HAHAHA joke’s on you BATMAN.”

In related news Gal Gadot has shared this awesome picture of Wonder Woman…

And finally, check out this bone crushing new TV Spot…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
