Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight was almost unanimously praised as the greatest aspect of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – but wait, there’s plenty more of him to come! Not only will he return for the two-part Justice League movie, he will take on his own version of the character in a solo film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (via Squareeyed), Affleck has indeed written his own script for a solo Batman adventure. Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell, CEOs of William Morris Endeavor, said this: “He’s contracted to do at least Justice League One and Two, so at least three times wearing the cape,” he says, adding, “there’s a script that he’s written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that’s out there as an option.”

The original report claimed the studio was so impressed with Affleck’s performance in Dawn of Justice, they immediately began working on encouraging the actor to extend his deal and keep him as Batman beyond the end of Justice League. There was even rumours that some executives had described Affleck as the ‘definitive Batman.’ That’s hugely exciting for fans.

Affleck to direct, write and star in a Batman movie? That’s something that can’t come quick enough but, of course, with Justice League and Live by Night taking him through until 2018, it’s entirely possible that a solo Batman may be at least three years away, so don’t hold your breath.
