Luc Besson has carved out a small corner for himself within the action genre. Through films like Taken and The Transporter, he has shown that he can create fun action movies that people will watch. However, with both of those franchises wrapped up (or in the case of The Transporter, rebooted), Besson is looking for new franchises to take their place.

The two franchises that Besson seems to be focusing on are Lucy and Colombiana. These are two interesting choices, especially as the end of Lucy did not leave much room for a sequel and Colombiana did not do overly well at the box office.

Besson himself was even quoted as saying, “I don’t see how we can do a sequel (referring to Lucy). It’s not made for that. If I find something good enough, maybe I will, but for now I don’t even think about it”.

With all of this being said, we will have to wait and see if either of these films can fill the hole left behind by the Taken and Transporter franchises.

My name is James and I am a long time fan of Movies, TV and Comics. I am currently a student, wrapping up my education at Aberystwyth University. I have an undergraduate degree in film and television and I’m working on my Masters in scriptwriting. My personal favourite comic character is the Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), and I view the film adaptation as one of the most horrifying experiences I have had in a movie theatre. As far as film and television go, I am usually willing to give any genre a try, as long as the project is well executed.
