Dan Aykroyd has been busy making the media rounds, being asked about the film, and promoting his award-winning Crystal Head Vodka brand reports Ghostbusters News‘ Jason.
In a recent exclusive with the Metro newspaper, Aykroyd shed more light on the sequel while affirming the speculated involvement of franchise original Bill Murray.
In speaking about the production, Aykroyd would say: “We’re three-quarters through filming, which means it’s got to be edited and mixed, and the CGI has to be put into it.”
Dan Aykroyd talks handing Ghostbusters to a new generation and possible delay of new sequel
While it’s been strongly insinuated that Bill Murray would be returning in the untitled sequel, being seen multiple times in the UK, even being pictured seemingly on set alongside Aykroyd and English comedian David Walliams, we’ve yet to get a definitive answer on his involvement, but Aykroyd, being wonderfully loose-lipped, has confirmed that Murray will 100% be back.
“I’m excited about this one. It’s got a beautiful, heartfelt story, a great threat, some scary moments, and it brings back Annie Potts and Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray and myself, and we’ve handed the torch to new people, Finn Wolfhard and Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon.”
Great news that Murray is back but where is Sigourney Weaver?! We’re hoping that was a slip of the tongue and that my life-long crush Dana Barrett is back for another outing too.
UPDATED:
Murray himself has confirmed that he has finished filming for the fourth Ghostbusters movie, speaking to TNT Sports, the star said: “I was working on a movie over here. A sequel to a phantasmic movie we made a long time ago, over in England… in America, in New York, so I got that done.”
You can watch the clip below, it’s around 1min 40secs that he mentions the ‘phantasmic’ sequel:
