Bill Murray just said he’s up for coming back for Ghostbusters 2020

Oh, boy, this is certainly getting interesting now…

One of the main reasons we didn’t get a proper Ghostbusters III before now was, let’s be honest, Bill Murray’s reluctance to come back.

But then, in 2010 Murray put the proton pack and jumpsuit on to accept the Scream award for Zombieland and we all hoped – HOPED! – that something was coming:

Damn that clip makes me feel good!

But then Paul Feig came along and created the reboot a couple of years ago and it looked like all hope was gone – especially with Murray’s horrendous inclusion as a ghost-doubting quack.

Enter Jason Reitman, son of original movies’ director Ivan Reitman who just a few short months ago was announced as taking over the mantle and making a new Ghostbusters movie set in the prime (original) universe.

And of course, our minds started racing… will the remaining team be back!? Well, we’re pretty sure Dan Ackroyd would come back as his love for this franchise he created 35 years ago is still strong.

Ernie Hudson has expressed interest in returning and now it seems that Bill Murray – Peter Venkman himself – is on for coming back too.

Oh, yes!

In a new interview, the actor had this to say: “I did [the remake] and I would do this next one.

“This franchise paid for my son’s college. We made this thing. We are the caretakers of it. It’s a great thing and it was a really fun movie to make. It’s a real movie with some really funny stuff in it.”

And isn’t that what we here at FTN have always said made Ghostbusters special? The fact that it isn’t a comedy, it’s an outrageous tale told well with some funny people involved… sadly Paul Feig missed this nuance with his 2016 movie.

The new movie already stars Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, IT), Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel) and Carrie Coon (Widows) as A family [who] moves back home to a small town where they learn more about who they are.
Jason Reitman co-wrote the script with Gil Kenan.

Are you as excited as we are for the return of the Ghostbusters? Let us know…

Ghostbusters will return to theaters on July 10, 2020.
